Hill the Star as Keirin League Shines
10th May 2008: The highlight of week 2 of the Brooks
Cycles Track League was the Velodrome.org.uk sponsored round 1 of the Keirin
League. After two keenly contested heats the final six riders put on a great
display of speed and skill over this 3 lap event. As the pacer pulled off, Dave
LeGrys launched an impressive attack to gain three lengths of his rivals.
However as the riders entered the home straight the ever impressive Steven Hill
judged his effort to perfection to win by half a length from Kian Emadi. Kian
was the top points scorer on the night in the A Class events as he won the
Devil and the 30 lap Scratch more........
Baxter is Mr Consistent in Welwyn
10th May 2008: A great days racing in a glorious day with 84 entries spread
across the 7 age groups. The Youth A group with 28 entries produced some highly
compoetitive racing from a strong group of riders Mark Baxter was Mr consistent
with 2,1,2,2 in the 4 race programme with Felix English although scoring
three wins his 7th place in the Devil cost him dearly

McGlynn/Hunter Smash WR to Grab Gold
9th May 2008: Great Britain cyclist Aileen McGlynn smashed the 3km pursuit world
record to grab gold on day two of the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester. The
Glasgow-based star – piloted by Ellen Hunter - shaved the world record by just
700 hundredths of a second off the previous time, clocking 3.36.752 seconds

Gibb on Form, but Not in Control
9th May 2008: An excellent evenings racing with fine weather and a massive
attendance of senior riders. George Olive with a fine finishing burst from 200m out was too
quick for Tony Gibb in the opening 10 lap scratch for A riders. Tony made
amends in the Devil while John McClelland took the 10 lap Block Handicap from
Lewis Atkins and fast improving Phil Lisher more ...
Gold's Galore for GB at Paralympic WC
8th May 2008: Great Britain cyclist Darren Kenny has vowed to take the Beijing paralympics by storm after grabbing two gold
medals at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester.
The 38-year-old – who won two gold medals at the Paralympic Games in Athens – also set two world best times but was prevented
from having them ratified as world records because anti-doping officials were
not in attendance at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester more........

Croall Dominates Week 2 at Meadowbank: Week Two of the
Meadowbank Track League saw City of Edinburgh riders Bruce Croall dominate the racing, extending his overall lead to
twelve points more .....
Dawkins and Serruya are Susie's Stars: Youth riders Rosie Serruya and Martin Dawkins claimed
victory in the U16 Girls and Boys Omnium at Susie's Youth Track Meeting, Serruya took
five points overall after winning all five events from Bryony Darben, whereas Dawkins fought of the
strong Felix English to win the Boys event

Agiskoviner Dominate Week 2 in Welwyn: Despite the threat of rain there was a good attendance of senior
riders for this weeks Welwyn Track League however the Youth numbers were
somewhat lower than the previous week as a number of riders were due in Portsmouth
the following day for the BC Youth Omnium series

Hill on Form as Brooks TL Returns: The 2008 Brooks Cycles Track League started on Thursday 1st
May 2008 under fine sunny skies and although the air temperature was
cold the racing on the track was hot. In the A Class League National Squad
member Steven Hill showed his early season form as he won three events

Yates Brothers Dominate in Brighton:
Miracles do happen. Travelling west towards Brighton through heavy rain, dark clouds appeared to be
overhanging the coast and it looked as if this would be a wasted journey. On
arrival at PrestonPark, however, the track

Preston Park Kicks Off in Style: Despite the unkind wind-chill factor, a record number of 77 riders signed on for the
first skirmishes of the season and a total of 23 races took place covering all

NTCA Teams Up with GO-Ride: The Newcastle Track Cycling Association (NTCA) is proud to announce a new initative
for this year, with the introduction of Go -Ride activities on Monday nights, The sessions will be aimed at
children who cannot yet ride the track more........
Winter Track Series Starts in Perth: Our winter season started on 4th April, in conjunction with The
Tour de Perth riders registration night, this event was held over Saturday and Sunday, with the Saturday races being held in pouring rain, about 65mm (25ins in the old money), no wonder I ride the track

Manchester Worlds - Best Ever!: The Union Cycliste Internationale has been
delighted with last week’s World Track Championships held in Manchester 26th – 30th
March. The five day event saw Great
Britain win nine gold medals and set two
world records. The crowds filled the Velodrome in SportsCity with the final
