Once again one of the world’s most traditional track-events has taken place: "Grosser Weihnachtspreis" in Dortmund Westfalenhalle 2nd Christmas Day, and again a strong group of Europe’s best track-riders participated.

Swiss Stayer-As Peter Jörg repeated last year’s victory in the stayers event. That meant no farewell-victory for Carsten Podlesch and no 6th record-victory for Andreas Beikirch. Two series of 20 Km was run in order to qualify the six riders for the final. Reinier Honig from the Netherlands and Peter Jörg won the series. The final was a 40 Km race and Peter Jörg won with only 2 Meters ahead of Rainier Honig and with 10 Meters to Beikirch.

"Omnium der Asse" between Germany (Bartko, Fulst, Lampater, Mohs and Zabel) and Europe (Kankovsky, Keisse, Marvulli, Risi, Slippens) was won by the German selection with a total of 88 points against 77 to Europe.
