Day Six: Stam/Lampater Win!!

One of the many myth’s of the world of 6-day racing has been, that a team, established during the race for various reasons, cannot/may not win a 6-days.

But obviously Danny Stam does not know – or recognise – that "rule" (or perhaps the rule doesn’t exist at all).

In Zurich he tried to the bitter end to win with Michael M๘rk๘v, but had to be content with 3rd place, in Rotterdam he fulfilled the job and won with Leif Lampater. The team, established after the abandons of Slippens and Beikirch, showed their ambitions on day five, so that they could start the final with a lead of one lap and despite the many bitter attacks from Risi – Marvulli, they managed to keep the lead to the very end. A fine performance, very well received by the capacity-crowd in Rotterdam’s AHOY-Halle.

Final result of the 6-Days in Rotterdam 2008:
1 Danny Stam (NED) – Leif Lampater (GER), 283 p., at 1 lap: 2 Bruno Risi – Franco Marvulli (SUI), 340 p., 3 Iljo Keisse (BEL) – Robert Bartko (GER), 331 p., 4 Peter Schep (NED) – Erik Zabel (GER), 276 p., at 8 laps: 5 Marco Villa (ITA) – Wim Stroetinga (NED), 206 p., 6 Niki Terpstra – Jens Mouris (NED), 168 p., at 10 laps: 7 Jos Pronk – Matth้ Pronk (NED), 128 p., at 11 laps: 8 Bobbie Traksel (NED) – Christian Lademann (GER), 146 p., at 13 laps: 9 Aart Vierhouten (NED) – Alexander Aeschbach (SUI), 127 p., at 15 laps: 10 Leon van Bon (NED) – Dmitri de Fauw (BEL), 222 p., at 18 laps: 11 Alois Kankovsky – Petr Lazar (CZE), 115 p., at 23 laps: 12 Gerd D๖rich (GER) – Steven de Neef (BEL), 53 p., at 27 laps: 13 Marc Hester (DEN) – Bas Gilling (NED), 109 p

Day Five: Stam/Lampater take the Lead

It looks like an exiting final in Rotterdam after Danny Stam and Leif Lampater managed to take a one lap lead on day five.

One lap down are Keisse – Bartko, Risi – Marvulli and Zabel – Schep, all very close on points. In Zurich Stam fought to the bitter end with his new Danish partner Michael M๘rk๘v, on his home-track in Rotterdam he will surely do the same with Leif Lampater.

Overall in Rotterdam after 5th day:
1 Danny Stam (NED) – Leif Lampater (GER), 236 p., at 1 lap: 2 Iljo Keisse (BEL) – Robert Bartko (GER), 273 p., 3 Bruno Risi – Franco Marvulli (SUI), 263 p., 4 Peter Schep (NED) – Erik Zabel (GER), 250 p., at 6 laps: 5 Niki Terpstra – Jens Mouris (NED), 144 p., at 7 laps: 6 Marco Villa (ITA) – Wim Stroetinga (NED), 168 p., 7 Jos Pronk – Matth้ Pronk (NED), 118 p., at 8 laps: 8 Bobbie Traksel (NED) – Christian Lademann (GER), 138 p., at 10 laps: 9 Aart Vierhouten (NED) – Alexander Aeschbach (SUI), 121 p., at 13 laps: 10 Leon van Bon (NED) – Dmitri de Fauw (BEL), 194 p., 11 Alois Kankovsky – Petr Lazar (CZE), 101 p., at 18 laps: 12 Gerd D๖rich (GER) – Steven de Neef (BEL), 53 p., at 22 laps: 13 Marc Hester (DEN) – Bas Gilling (NED), 95 p.

Day Four: Keisse/Bartko Take Over

The Sunday family program in Rotterdam contained only one race, but that was enough for Keisse and Bartko to take over the lead in the overall after nearly four days of reign from Risi and Marvulli.

Keisse/Bartko won the race ahead of Stam and Lampater and managed to keep Risi/Marvulli one lap behind. And when we look at the points we can see, that Stam – Lampater is nearly on level with Keisse – Bartko with at bonuslap only two points ahead.

Overall in Rotterdam after 4th day:
1 Iljo Keisse (BEL) – Robert Bartko (GER), 241 p., at 1 lap: 2 Bruno Risi – Franco Marvulli (SUI), 235 p., 3 Peter Schep (NED) – Erik Zabel (GER), 213 p., 4 Danny Stam (NED) – Leif Lampater (GER),198 p., at 5 laps: 5 Niki Terpstra – Jens Mouris (NED), 105 p., at 6 laps: 6 Marco Villa (ITA) – Wim Stroetinga (NED), 122 p., at 7 laps: 7 Bobbie Traksel (NED) – Christian Lademann (GER), 130 p., 8 Jos Pronk – Matth้ Pronk (NED), 88 p., at 10 laps: 9 Aart Vierhouten (NED) – Alexander Aeschbach (SUI), 84 p., at 11 laps: 10 Leon van Bon (NED) – Dmitri de Fauw (BEL), 156 p., at 12 laps: 11 Alois Kankovsky – Petr Lazar (CZE), 79 p., at 16 laps: 12 Gerd D๖rich (GER) – Steven de Neef (BEL), 30 p., at 19 laps: 13 Marc Hester (DEN) – Bas Gilling (NED), 53 p.

Day Three: Risi/Marvulli still Lead

Risi/Marvulli and Keisse/Bartko are still the two top-teams in the overall in Rotterdam, despite the fact that they won neither of the two races on day three.

The first one was won by Erik Zabel and Peter Schep, the second by Stam/Lampater.

Those two teams are one lap behind in the overall, but with Stam – Lampater very close to a bonuslap.

Overall in Rotterdam after 3rd day:
1 Bruno Risi – Franco Marvulli (SUI), 210 p., 2 Iljo Keisse (BEL) – Robert Bartko (GER), 203 p., at 1 lap: 3 Peter Schep (NED) – Erik Zabel (GER), 195 p., 4 Danny Stam (NED) – Leif Lampater (GER), 158 p., at 5 laps: 5 Niki Terpstra – Jens Mouris (NED), 87 p., at 6 laps: 6 Marco Villa (ITA) – Wim Stroetinga (NED), 86 p., 7 Jos Pronk – Matth้ Pronk (NED), 69 p., at 7 laps: 8 Bobbie Traksel (NED) – Christian Lademann (GER), 94 p., at 8 laps: 9 Aart Vierhouten (NED) – Alexander Aeschbach (SUI), 70 p., at 9 laps: 10 Leon van Bon (NED) – Dmitri de Fauw (BEL), 106 p., at 10 laps: 11 Alois Kankovsky – Petr Lazar (CZE), 38 p., at 14 laps: 12 Gerd D๖rich (GER) – Steven de Neef (BEL), 22 p., at 16 laps: 13 Marc Hester (DEN) – Bas Gilling (NED), 36 p.

Day Two: Stam/Lampater Form New Team

Danny Stam has a new team-mate in Rotterdam after the withdrawl of his original partner Robert Slippens.

Slippens was neutralised on the first evening and this morning went home after he could not continue due to the severe saddle sore picked up at last week’s Zurich 6D.

German rider Andreas Beikirch also withdrew due to knee problems, consequently Danny Stam and the German Leif Lampater formed a new team, which started the second evening in 4th place, 2 laps behind with 31 points.

By the end of the day they were still two laps behind, but very close to achieving a bonus lap after winning the evenings first event.

Dutch "outsiders" Terpstra and Mouris won the second race and moved up to 5th position in the overall standings, but World Madison Champions and six day legends Risi and Marvulli still lead from Keisse/Bartko and Schep/Zabel.

Overall in Rotterdam after 2nd evening:
1 Bruno Risi – Franco Marvulli (SUI), 143 p., 2 Iljo Keisse (BEL) – Robert Bartko (GER), 138 p., 3 Peter Schep (NED) – Erik Zabel (GER), 123 p., at 2 laps: 4 Danny Stam (NED) – Leif Lampater (GER), 91 p., at 3 laps: 5 Niki Terpstra – Jens Mouris (NED), 63 p., at 4 laps: 6 Marco Villa (ITA) – Wim Stroetinga (NED), 58 p., 7 Jos Pronk – Matth้ Pronk (NED), 46 p., at 6 laps: 8 Bobbie Traksel (NED) – Christian Lademann (GER), 71 p., 9 Aart Vierhouten (NED) – Alexander Aeschbach (SUI), 47 p., at 7 laps: 10 Leon van Bon (NED) – Dmitri de Fauw (BEL), 67 p., 11 Alois Kankovsky – Petr Lazar (CZE), 28 p., at 9 laps: 12 Gerd D๖rich (GER) – Steven de Neef (BEL), 5 p., at 11 laps: 13 Marc Hester (DEN) – Bas Gilling (NED), 14 p.

Day One: Risi/Marvulli take early Lead

Franco Marvulli

Yet again Bruno Risi and Franco Marvulli lead a six day competition, after they emerged victorious on night one of the Rotterdam 6D.

Robert Slippens, who had to abandon in Zurich, also had to be neutralised during the first evening in Rotterdam, due to the saddle-sore he suffered in Switzerland.

Overall in Rotterdam after 1st evening:
1 Bruno Risi – Franco Marvulli (SUI), 72 p., 2 Iljo Keisse (BEL) – Robert Bartko (GER), 71 p., 3 Peter Schep (NED) – Erik Zabel (GER), 65 p., at 1 lap: 4 Andreas Beikirch – Leif Lampater (GER), 37 p., at 2 laps: 5 Alois Kankovsky – Petr Lazar (CZE), 22 p., 6 Jos Pronk – Matth้ Pronk (NED), 21 p., 7 Niki Terpstra – Jens Mouris (NED), 20 p., 8 Marco Villa (ITA) – Wim Stroetinga (NED), 11 p., at 3 laps: 9 Bobbie Traksel (NED) – Christian Lademann (GER), 32 p., 10 Aart Vierhouten (NED) – Alexander Aeschbach (SUI), 16 p., at 4 laps: 11 Robert Slippens – Danny Stam (NED), 27 p., 12 Leon van Bon (NED) – Dmitri de Fauw (BEL), 24 p., 13 Gerd D๖rich (GER) – Steven de Neef (BEL), 0 p., at 5 laps: 14 Marc Hester (DEN) – Bas Gilling (NED), 2 p.
