4th October 2010: The Trois Jours d'Aigle returned to the UCI World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland this weekend with it's usual feast of fantastic racing on the 200m velodrome. Traditionally a compact six-day format the event features a range of Sprint and Endurance events that form part of a three day Omnium series. In the first event for the Women's Sprinters, the Sprint, Elisa Frisoni of Italy took the victory, beating France's Laurie Berthon in the final, with Spain's Helena Casas beating Magali Baudacci of France to take third. In the Men's event, it was another Italian, Luca Ceci who beat another French rider, Adrien Doucet to take the victory, with Doucet's team-mate Thomas Bonafos beating Clemens Selzer of Austria to take third.
Elisa Frisoni took four victories in the Women's Sprint Omnium Looking on good form, Frisoni then beat Baudacci to win the Keirin, with Casas a distant third, Francesco Ceci took the Men's event from Bonafos and Luca Ceci. On Day Two, the female Sprinters had another Sprint competition to contest, but first they had the 200m Time Trial Qualification where Italian Elisa Frisoni clocked the fastest time of 11.850s, 0.045s faster than Spaniard Helena Casas' time of 11.895s, third fastest was French rider Magali Baudacci in a time of 11.908s. Frisoni then progressed through the rounds with ease to meet Casas in the final, where she demonstrated the value of experience as she effortlessly took the victory. In the Men's event, Adrien Doucet of France recorded a time of 10.572s to easily take the victory ahead of Luca Ceci (10.685s), and Itmar Esteban (10.688s). Like Frisoni in the Women's Event, Doucet also progressed through the rounds with ease before disposing of Luca Ceci in the final to take a well deserved victory.
Luca Ceci took overall victory in the Men's Sprint Omnium The Women's Elimination (Devil) saw Spain's Helena Casas impress when she easily beat Austrian Pelin Cizgin and young French rider Magali Baudacci to take the victory. Casas followed this up with victory in the 500m Time Trial in a time of 35.991s, easily faster than Italian Elisa Frisoni's time of 36.635s. Baudacci again took third with a time of 36.947s.Casas denied the Italian's a clean sweep of the Sprinter's Omniums as he two thirds, two seconds and two victories gave her victory over Frisoni, even though the Italian won four events, Casas better results ratio gave her the victory. In the Men's Elimination Thomas Bonafos beat Francesco Ceci of Italy and David Jansen of Switzerland to take a well deserved win. Next up was the Kilometre Time Trial in which Italian Ceci got revenge on Bonafos when he took the win in 1m 04.435s, fractionally faster than the Frenchman's time of 1m 04.987s. Ceci's brother, Luca, was third with a time of 1m 05.374s. Luca's performance enabled him to secure the overall victory in the Sprinters Omnium, with Bonafos taking second and Francesco Ceci third. In the opening event of the Women's Omnium, World Championship Bronze medallist Leire Olaberria of Spain recorded the fastest time of 11.873s in the 200m Time Trial, with Austrian Pelin Cizgin not far behind in 11.992s and France's Laurie Berthon third with 12.110s. Berthon then finished second in the Points Race behind Italian Valentina Scandolara to move into an early lead in the competiton. Swiss rider Andrea Wolfer staked her claim to the overall with a fine performance in the Elimination, sprinting to victory over Olaberria in the closing stages.
Leif Lampater and Claudio Imhof in the Madison Local rider Pascale Schnider of Switzerland beat Olaberria in the Women's 3km Individual Pursuit after her time of 3m 43.016s was over two seconds faster than Olaberria's time of 3m 45.610s. Schnider's Swiss team-mate Andrea Wolfer took third place in a time of 3m 45.925s. France's Laurie Berthon beat Valentina Scandolara of Italy in the fifth Omnium event, the Scratch Race, Pelin Cizgin was third. Olaberria then showed just why she podiumed in the World Championships with a commanding performance in the 500m Time Trial, beating Berthon's time of 37.412s with a 37.340s, meaning the Spanish rider took the overall victory from Berthon and Andrea Wolfer. Looking in good form in time for the 2010/2011 Six Day Series, Switzerland's Franco Marvulli easily beat Italian Angelo Ciccone and Iran's Abbas Saeidi Tanha to take the Scratch race German Leif Lampater and his Swiss team-mate Claudio Imhof started the Madison competition with a fine victory over Andreas Muller and Andreas Graf of Austria, however at the end of the second day of competition, Christian Graesman of Germany and his Swiss partner Kilian Moser took the lead, a lap ahead of Muller/Graf after some fantastic racing. On Day Three the Austrians were able to turn things around and secure the overall title with a victory of their own ahead of Lampater and Imhof with with Alex Aeschbach and Jan Keller taking third.
