Before the final sprint Iljo Keisse and Robert Bartko were tied on points with Rasmussen and Mørkøv, Rasmussen missed his change with Michael on the last lap which gave Keisse the advantage as they headed towards the line, however Alex was able to pull the Belgian back to take the victory in the dying moments

The Danish World Champions took the victory and defended their result from 2009 with Iljo Keisse and Robert Bartko second and Bruno Risi and Franco Marvulli taking third.

"It was a fantastic victory, which was super exciting to the very end. Alex and I believed in it throughout, and through a super audience we had fought our way to this victory, "explained Michael Mørkøv.

Dutch Experience Makes the Difference

8th February 2010: The Dutchmen, Danny Stam and Peter Schep, showed their massive experience and handled the complex situation and rules of a madison handicap. By riding as the true top team they are and handling the points situation in a manner which meant that they reached 100 points at the exact right time which gave them the lead. The experience proved vital and it totally made up for the fact that neither of them are sprinters. The Dutch had to fight Americans Pearce-Holloway in the final sprint for the win but instead of sprinting, the Dutch made an early attack which they, through their tempo abilities, were able to keep and did not have to sprint against the Americans. The speed at the handicap was a new record in the Copenhagen record and was set at 1 hour 25 minutes and 24 seconds which was 1 minute and 7 seconds faster than the old from 2002. They rode at a speed of 52,69 km/t. In other disciplines, Donadio-Marguet set a new 6-days 2010 250 meter team time trial record and were the only ones to ride under less than 13 seconds. The Derny Grand Prix Final was won by Stam-Schep while the 500 meter team time trial was won by Donadio-Marguet, who showed themselves as true TT specialists. Today the Giant Sprint was won by Shmidt-Hochmann in front of Van Bon-Kreutzfeldt.

Bitter Fight in Ballerup

5th February 2010: A very tight 60 minutes madison resulted in Swiss super stars, Risi-Marvulli, not only winning the madison but also reaching 100 points which resulted in a bonus lap that put them into the lead of the 48th Copenhagen 6-days. Risi is riding his last race and his determination was obvious throughout the race where not even local heroes and World Champions Rasmussen-Mørkøv could resist the Swiss power and timing of Risi-Marvulli. It was however quite obvious that Alex Rasmussen was blocked in the decisive sprint and he could not reach Risi. That is the name of the game though and there could be no doubt that the Swiss deserved their win. The battle was very much between the Swiss and the Danes and they were really riding on each other, constantly chasing and looking out but in the end Bruno Risi finished off the job. The team elimination race was won by Leon van Bon and Daniel Kreutzfeldt while top team Bartko-Keisse took care of the first madison over 30 minutes. The Derny Group A was won by Rasmussen-Mørkøv and Aeschbach-Færk won the Derny Group B. The 500 meter team time trial was also won by Aeschbach-Færk while the one lap team time trial was won by Rasmussen-Mørkøv.

UIV Talents Cup

Lander-Kreutzfeldt Were Untouchable

9th February 2010: At today’s final of the Copenhagen UIV Talents Cup, Sebastian Lander and Christian Kreutzfeldt were truly untouchable. They controlled the race from start to finish winning the madison by two laps and also finishing the overall standing with two laps. As there was not much doubt about who would win, the fight for second place was really exciting. Danes Hovmand-Greve occupied second to begin with but at the end Corthésy-Perizzolo and Atkins-Mould took a lap and since they had more points, they threw the Danes into fourth position. Hovmand-Greve however managed to take a lap shortly after and in the end claimed second place.

Final standing in Copenhagen UIV Talents Cup:

1 Sebastian Lander – Christian Kreutzfeldt (DEN), 77 p., at 2 laps: 2 Emil Hovmand – Matias Greve (DEN), 52 p., at 3 laps: 3 George Atkins – Jonathan Mould (GBR), 96 p., 4 Damien Corthésy – Loïc Perizzolo (SUI), 78 p., at 4 laps: 5 Ian Moir – Kit Karzen (USA), 46 p., 6 Simon Bigum – Rasmus H. Lander-Kreutzfeldt in Total Control

8th February 2010: An incredible display saw Sebastian Lander and Christian Kreutzfeldt totally dominate today’s 5th stage of the UIV Talents Cup. Atkins-Mould, Corthésy-Perizzolo and Hovmand-Greve all tried hard to break down Lander-Kreutzfeldt but especially Lander was too strong. Kreutzfeldt has been out with injury all of December but has managed to get into good shape for the Copenhagen edition of the UIV Talents Cup which was obvious as he rode really well and with Lander’s sheer dominance, the team was untouchable. A solo crash by Emil Hovmand in the beginning of the race did not matter, as he and partner Matias Greve fought extremely hard to take a lap by themselves and are the only team which is on equal laps with Lander-Kreutzfeldt.

Overall in Copenhagen UIV Talents Cup after 5th day:

1 Sebastian Lander – Christian Kreutzfeldt (DEN), 72 p., 2 Emil Hovmand – Matias Greve (DEN), 40 p., at 1 lap: 3 George Atkins – Jonathan Mould (GBR), 71 p., 4 Damien Corthésy – Loïc Perizzolo (SUI), 62 p., 5 Ian Moir – Kit Karzen (USA), 34 p., 6 Simon Bigum – Rasmus H. Lander-Kreutzfeldt Unleashed!

7th February 2010: A very strong performance from Danes Sebastian Lander and Christian Kreutzfeldt saw them overcome the Swiss barricades and win 1 lap within the first 10 minutes of the race. Corthésy-Perizzolo tried hard to follow the Danes throughout the race but Lander-Kreutzfeldt were simply too strong and won today’s stage which put them into the lead of the UIV Talents Cup. Emil Hovmand and Matias Greve also managed to take a lap which brought them into second position of the overall standing.

Atkins and Mould Claim Victory

6th February 2010: A tightly fought race in today’s third stage of the UIV Cup saw a very aggressive Sebastian Lander and partner Christian Kreutzfeldt attack over and over again but the Swiss handled the situation nicely. There was only one time where Corthésy and Perizzolo seemed to be about to snap, but they kept their cool and their defensive tactic paid off in the end. British team Atkins-Mould also tried hard to gun down the Swiss but could not break them down either. In the sprint finish Atkins and Mould won and thereby claimed victory on this 3rd stage of the UIV Talents Cup.

Overall in Copenhagen UIV Talents Cup after 3rd day:

Swiss in Control of UIV Talents Cup

5th February 2010: A tight race today saw British riders Atkins-Mould win today’s 2nd stage of the UIV Talents Cup. They tried hard to gun down the overall leaders Corthésy and Perizzolo to claim 1st in the overall standing but the Swiss were in complete control and never really seemed like they would let it slip. Danes Lander-Kreutzfeldt also tried hard but with the same result – the Swiss were just too strong.

Overall in Copenhagen UIV Talents Cup after 2nd day:

1 Damien Corthésy – Loïc Perizzolo (SUI), 34 p., 2 George Atkins – Jonathan Mould (GBR), 30 p., 3 Sebastian Lander – Christian Kreutzfeldt (DEN), 20 p., 4 Ian Moir – Kit Karzen (USA), 17 p., 5 Emil Hovmand – Mathias Greve (DEN), 17 p., 6 Frederik Schwartz – Casper Degn Larsen (DEN), 4 p., 7 Mike Lauge – Nichlas E. Rasmussen/Mørkøv at Ballerup 6D

3rd February 2010: Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv, stand as defending champions and reigning world champions in tandem when the 6-day course shortly kicks off. Couple No. 7 predicts a tough battle for points and waves, but also believe that the fantastic atmosphere in Ballerup Super Arena will provide the additional forces needed to run a comprehensive victory.

Thursday 4th February kicks the 48th Copenhagen 6-dagesløb started in Ballerup Super Arena. Race Organizer Henrik Elmgreen are busy getting the final details in place around the hitherto strongest field of Danish and international cycling stars. "Couple No. 7 is a Danish couple in the world , but the box also offers other notable Danish names such as Michael Færk Christensen and Jens-Erik Madsen, who both helped to win the world championship in 4000 meter Pursuit in 2009. Two other Danish profiles are Kreutzfelt Daniel, who won World Cup silver in pointløb in 2009, and 6-day-expert Marc Hester. Among the foreign stars audiences can look forward to seeing "Brandenburger Express" Robert Bartko (Germany) NVIRONMENT Keiss (Belgium), Danny Stam (Netherlands) and the "Alpine Express" Franco Marvulli and Bruno Risi (Switzerland), "says Henrik Elmgreen enthusiastic.

Couple No. 7 expect extra support in year Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv, forming the third consecutive year, the legendary couple No. 7, and they have already enrolled themselves among the biggest names in Danish track cycling history. Over the past year, they celebrated many triumphs. One of them was the victory in the Copenhagen 6-dagesløb 2009, but the World Cup in tandem in March 2009, however, stands as the intermediate peak. "It is fantastic to run on home turf as both reigning world champions and defending pairs No 7 We perceive a tremendous interest for the race this year so this time we have even higher expectations for the fantastic audience in Ballerup, and it can easily be crucial for the author, who runs off with the overall victory, "says Michael Mørkøv.

Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv recent results on the European bicycle lanes provide reasonable hope that they can defend last year's victory. This winter, they have until now been running three 6-dagesløb, and in all three trials are finished on the podium. They started out with a 2nd-place at 6-day race in Munich. In Ghent it was an impressive victory, while they fetched an impressive 3rd-place in Rotterdam despite the fact that Michael Mørkøv was involved in a bad crash. In the weeks before it goes away in Copenhagen 6-dagesløb running Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv 6 days in Berlin.

Copenhagen Six Day
The Ballerup Six Day starts on the 4th of February

Couple No. 7 also has a professional cycling career on the road, where they run for Team Saxo Bank. Team owner Bjarne Riis gave riders the opportunity to run professional track cycling alongside that they are preparing to launch the spring season. Thus, there is again this year good reason why Bjarne Riis down the road past the Ballerup Super Arena, like many other cycling stars - past and present.

Audience to the Copenhagen 6-dagesløb have historically been able to follow countless big bike names. Nascent stars have had their breakthrough, and living legends have run their last professional race in Copenhagen, who finish the race calendar on the European winter runways. This year the audience goodbye to Bruno Risi. He is one half of the "Swiss Alpine Express", which again this year is a good bid for the overall victory in Ballerup Super Arena. Alpine Express's second rider Franco Marvulli and they last won the Copenhagen 6-dagesløb in 2008.

Bruno Risi has reached the age of 41 years, and he ends a glorious career. He is among other double world champion in tandem with Franco Marvulli (in 2003 and 2007) and the list of 6-day victories with only Kurt Betschart and since Franco Marvulli is impressively long. 61 victories on the European 6-day courses, it has been in total. 37 of them were won with Kurt Betschart, which is the world record. "It is an honor to present to pave Bruno Risis last race, and with the audience want the Copenhagen 6-dagesløb give him a festive conclusion to a great career. It also asks Bruno Risi, guaranteed to say goodbye in style, so the field's other couple would be wise to keep a close eye on him, "says Henrik Elmgreen.
