Four months after riders did battle at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Track Cycling returns to the Laoshan Velodrome with the fourth round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup taking place from January the 16th to 18th 2009

21st January 2009: With three gold medals (for the individual sprint, 500 metres time trial and keirin) and a silver medal (team sprint) at the fourth and penultimate leg of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics in Beijing, Simona Krupeckaite succeeded in doing even better than last December in Cali. Bauge Blasts to Beijing Sprint Gold

18th January 2009: France's Team Sprint World Champion Gregory Bauge blasted back onto the world scene with a fine victory in the Men's Sprint on Day Three of the Beijing UCI Track Cycling World Cup at the Laoshan Velodrome. China's Lei Zhang delighted his home crowd as he was the surprise fastest qualifier in the 200m Time Trial with a time of 10.173s, fractionally faster than World Cup leader Shane Perkins of Australia who set a time of 10.178s, with Bauge down in third with 10.187s more........

Double Gold for Malaysia on Day Two

17th January 2009: Azizulhasni Awang Rizal Tisin and provided Malaysia with an unexpected double Gold on Day Two of the Beijing UCI Track Cycling World Cup at the Laoshan Velodrome. Awang 'wowed' the crowd in the Keirin with yet more flambouant racing that saw him claim the Gold medal and move into the lead in the World Cup standings, whereas Tisin continued to improve in the Kilo, with a 1m 02.268s ride enough to give him and Malaysian Cycling another well deserved Gold medal more........

Krupeckaite Does It Again in Beijing

16th January 2009: Fresh from her clean sweep of the Individual Sprint events at the Cali World Cup, Lithuanian Simona Krupeckaite dominated the Women's Sprint in the Beijing World Cup at the Laoshan Velodrome. Krupeckaite topped the 200m Qualification Time Trial standings with a time of 11.304s, 0.1s faster than Ukrainian World Cup leader Lyubov Shulika who recorded a time of 11.434s which was fractionally faster than home favourite Shuang Guo (11.439s), fourth was Dutch rider Willy Kanis with 11.473s more........
