18th August 2008: Marianne Vos made it look all too easy as she claimed Gold in the Women's Points race at the Beijing Olympics, beating Cuba's Yoanka Gonzalez and Leire Olaberria of Spain in a World Class performance Vos simply sat in collecting a eight points from the first few sprints before making a solo attack to lap the field with ease and secure that all important 20 points to secure victory more........

Hoy and Edgar Get Keirin One-Two




16th August 2008: Britain's Chris Hoy and Ross Edgar have claimed the Gold and Silver Medals respectively in the Men's Keirin in Laoshan Velodrome at the Beijing Olympic Games. Heat One saw Hoy easily beat German Carsten Bergemann, Toshiaki Fushimi of Japan and French powerhouse Gregory Bauge, whereas Edgar, who was fifth in the Athens Olympic Keirin, beat Roberto Chiappa of Italy and Malaysian more........

Gold for Wiggins in Pursuit




16th August 2008: In the Men's 4km Individual Pursuit it was all about defending champion Bradley Wiggins, who easily set a new Olympic record in his qualification ride, with a time of 4m 15.031s easily three seconds faster than second fastest qualifer Hayden Roulston of New Zealand who recorded a time of 4m 18.990s more........

16th August 2008: Spain's Joan Llaneras has cemented his place in cycling history as the greatest Points race rider of all time after he dominated the Olympics Points race at Laoshan Velodrome in Beijing to take his second Olympic title Reading every move like a hawk, Llaneras used all his years of experience to pull off the ride of his life to take the Gold medal from German Roger Kluge and Britain's Chris Newton more........

Croall/Haynes Share Meadowbank Honours:
City of Edinburgh riders Bruce Croall and Matt Haynes shared the honours in the Meadowbank GP Sprinters League after rain once again affected the meeting in Edinburgh. Earlier in the day Haynes had topped the 200m TT times with 11.36s 0.01s quicker than Croall and the pair then proceeded to work their way through the competition to make the final before the weather bought an end to the meeting and denied onlookers the chance of a mouth-watering final between the pair more........



Kian Emadi



Emadi Defends U16 Omnium Title:
Tunstall Wheelers rider Kian Emadi has defended his 2007 Youth Omnium Title with victory in the 2008 final today at Manchester Velodrome. Emadi posted an extremely impressive time of 1m 06.819s in the Kilo TT, however Cwmcarn Paragon rider Sam Harrison went 0.4s better to take the first event more........

Taylor Takes Welwyn Clean Sweep:
A good turn out for this weeks meeting after the disappointment of last weeks rained off meeting. Bryan Taylor used his strong finish to take all 4 senior events showing series leader Lewis Atkins a clean back wheel. Andrew Magnier



Magnier in Dominant Form:
Fresh from his bronze medal in the National Derny Championships the previous weekend, reigning A Class Champion Andrew Magnier took full advantage of the absence of the top two in the league tables to score 12 points. He was in dominant form to win all four A Class events. His most impressive was the final 30 lap scratch event where his bursts of speed dropped all but Stephen Barrett. With the two half a lap up on the rest of the field Magnier started his sprint late to win by a clear bike length more........

Close Battles at Preston Park:
Fifty-eight riders enjoyed a busy meet tonight at Preston Park, and with just one meeting left next week there was a lot of competition for league points in all categories. Highlights of the night were two super-tight sprints which kept the judges on their toes. Top official this time was recently-accredited Ben Miller who, like Dave and Daniel Gerrey in the two previous weeks, did a fine job on his debut more .....

Rowe Claims National Derny Title:
Father and Son duo Luke and Courtney Rowe of Rapha Condor/Recycling have claimed victory in the National Derny Paced Championships at Maindy Stadium in Cardiff. As soon as the race started Rowe, Tony Gibb (PCA) and Brooks Cycles/Velodrome.org.uk rider Andrew Magnier went on the attack, opening up a clear margin over the rest of the field, making it obvious to onlookers that the medal positions had been more than decided more ...



World Cup Pursuit Winners



Manchester to Host World Cup:
The Manchester Velodrome has been confirmed as the venue for the first major track cycling event following the Olympic Games in Beijing. The first round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup will take place in Manchester from 31st October to 2nd November 2008.
