It has been announced that Six Day legend Iljo Keisse has tested for positive for an 'un-named substance' at the recent Ghent 6D.

Unlike many instances in the past in the Road Cycling side of the sport, the Ghent 6D organisers kept quite about the result, allowing Keisse the dignity of announcing the result himself.

Keisse commented "I have been suspended by my team, but I can confirm it certainly is not EPO or CERA and we have requested that a B Sample to be tested"

Christophe Sercu of Topsport Vlaanderen, Keisse' team, commented: "I want to keep the contents of that conversation confidential, as well as the name of the product for which Iljo tested positive"

Keisse has already withdrawn from this weekends Zurich 6D and remains unavailable for comment until the B Sample results are known.

Whilst the results of the B Sample tests and the product that Keisse has tested positive for are unknown, we send our thoughts to Iljo and his family in what must be a very difficult time for the rider who has for so long dominated the Six Day racing scene
