in August, the replacement event will be run at Scunthorpe on 29th September.

Part of the Edinburgh Festival celebrations is the prestigious Meadowbank GP, which this year includes the National Madison Championships
9 teams will compete for the Saturday 18th British Madison
Championship at 12.55 pm
The two top pro teams are PCA (James McCallum & Simon Gaywood), and Rapha
Condor ( Ross Muir & Dean Downing),
and they are clearly the favourites to take the Gold and Silver medals in the
200 lap title race. Both teams contain a Scot, so a local victory seems likely.
The Bronze medal looks wide open between local teams
John Stollery (Paramount) & Richard Chapman (Bicycle Works)
Graeme Barclay (Fife) & Kevin Barclay (PCA)
Jimmy Rutherford (SIS) & Alastair Rutherford (Wills Wheels)
Nicky Hall & Derek Smith (City of Edinburgh RC)
Kate Cullen (City of Edinburgh RC )& Chris Bush (Gosforth)
and from Yorkshire
Adam Duggelby (PM) & Neil Withington (Anderson`s Racing)
and from Lancashire
Martin Freeman & Karl Freeman (Corly Cycles)
These teams will warm up in a Devil, and after the Madison ride in the
Meadowbank Mile, and at 4.30pm in the Saturday Finale; the British
Endurance League match for the Edinburgh Corporation Trophy, which be run as
a 15Km Scratch. This will also be a battle with the sprinters who
will have finished their 3 event Saturday Omnium of TT, Sprints, and Kierin.
On Sunday 19th the top 16 endurance riders compete in a Derny
GP with heats, and Minor and Grand Finals.
The sprinters contest the British Sprinters League match in which the
top 12 qualifiers race the knockout stages.
After round 2 the top 4 continue to `match race` (best of 3) for the victory,
while the eliminated riders race a Kierin series.
The favourite is the defending champion Marco Librizzi (City of Edinburgh RC) who will be
challenged by team mates Bruce Croall, and junior Toby Sherwood, who looks
forward to another epic battle with Scottish ace veteran Ivor Reid.
Challengers from Wales, with Michael Partridge, Rhydian Page, and Osian
Meilyr, and from England `s Paul Gittins and Steve Cronshaw, will also face the
top 3 Scottish young sprinters Calum Skinner, Jamie Bremner, and Kevin Stewart.
A full field of `B` riders, including Women, Juniors, and Youth A, race in the
500m Handicap, Points, and Scratch races, Devils, and the Mile, over the two
days; and over 30 u/14 and u/12 riders take part in the `B` and `C` 6 event
Omniums.
Admission for spectators is free, and refreshments are available at the track
centre `bistro`. The event is sponsored by the City of Edinburgh
Council, DHL, and Bicycle Repair Man. Racing starts at 11 am both
days.
