Velodrome.org.uk Midland Sprint Series




In 2008 Velodrome.org.uk hosts the inaurgural Midland Sprint Series at Newcastle-under-Lyme's Lyme Valley Stadium

The events provide Women and Masters riders with a revolutionary format of Omnium Sprint events, commencing with the traditional 200m TT the meeting then moves on to a 'Sprint Ladder' Competition as opposed to the normal knock-out format, this guarantees riders multiple rounds of Match Sprint action.

The format then progresses onto Mile Dash and Keirin rounds before returning to 'Round-Robin' style sprinting with the overall winner in each category decided according to Points totals

PLEASE NOTE: Due to lack of entries, both events shall be in the form of an open training session that follows the format of the planned event. Entry Fees shall be either returned or given to riders at the sessions (if you entered both), however there shall be a small fee for the training session

Even though the original event was cancelled due to lack of entries a bumper field turned out for the training day with Lee Povey producing some fantastic sprinting to claim the honours from Steve Cronshaw and Jim Varnishmore........

Cronshaw Wins Round One of MSS:
Event One on Sunday the 25th of May was run as a training event, due to the lack of entries. Former World Masters Champion Steve Cronshaw showed he means business for the forthcoming season when he riders including Jess Varnish, who rode in the Sprint and Keirin at this year's World Championships more........
