
Rowe Claims National Derny TitleFather and Son duo Luke and Courtney Rowe of Rapha Condor/Recycling have claimed victory in the National Derny Paced Championships at Maindy Stadium in Cardiff. As soon as the race started Rowe, Tony Gibb (PCA) and Brooks Cycles/Velodrome.org.uk rider Andrew Magnier went on the attack, opening up a clear margin over the rest of the field, making it obvious to onlookers that the medal positions had been more than decided It wasn't until half if the 30km distance had been covered that Rowe and Gibb moved away from Magnier and gain multiple laps on the field, before Rowe's incredible endurance finally forced Gibb to give in and the Bronze medal partnership from last year easily outsprinted the PCA rider to take a well deserved victory Although not on terms with Rowe and Gibb, Magnier remained a class above the rest of the field and achieved his first National medal In the Women's event, the vast majority of last year's field were absent which ment the standard of racing wasn't even on par with 2007's epic performance from Victoria Pendleton and Sean Bannister On this occassion Janet Birkmyre took advantage of her astly experienced Derny pacer Graham Bristow, who got her into the perfect position to just edge out Talent Team member Hanna Rich for the Gold, with Joanne McRae taking Bronze
