Excellent Edgar wins Keirin!
Edgar
clinches the Keirin from Crampton and
Hoy
Ross Edgar has won
the British National Keirin Championships after a fantastic final that
saw the entire GB sprint team do
battle.
Edgar was drawn against
defending Champion Matt Crampton, Chris Hoy, Craig Maclean,
Jamie Staff and Jason Kenny and managed to hold on in the
lunge for the line beating Crampton and Hoy to the
title.

Ross was delighted with the result as it
shows that he has made another step up since his Commonwealth
Games triple medal haul.
Recent World Champion Jody Cundy clinched
the CWAD Time Trial title with a specatular World Record time
of 1m 10.255secs giving him 100.391 points
compared to silver medalist's Anthony Kappes and Barney
Storey's 99.897 and Aileen McGlynn and Ellen Hunter's
98.498.

Jody commented: "I was suprised
how quick I rode as the Team Sprint and 200m took it out of me
a bit, but after three World Records in three days, what can I
say - i'm delighted!!!!"
Meanwhile in the Women's Keirin
Victoria Pendleton defended her title, but was pushed all the
way by Junior World Keirin Champion Anna Blyth with Lucy Ayres
a bit further back in third.

The win means Pendleton has now
claimed 16 National Titles from the Manchester Championship
since 2002!
In the
Women's Pursuit defending champion Wendy Houvenaghel faced newcomer Rebecca Romero, her
SiS.com teammate.

But Wendy,
who was using a gear over 100 inches, proved too
strong for Romero, winning the Gold by five seconds in a time
of 3m 38.260s

In an
extremely impressive ride, former swimmer and CWAD competitor
Sarah Bailey of VC St. Raphael clinched the Bronze Medal from
Joanna Rowsell
The Team Pursuit saw a British National Record time
by the Composite A team of Ed Clancy, Steve Cummings, Paul Manning
and Chris Newton.

The quartet caught silver medalists Recycling.co.uk
(Stannard, Sander, Swift and Thomas) in 2m 46secs to prove
their dominance.
This concludes a
fantastic 2006 championships which have seen some extremely
impressive riding, lets hope this will continue throughout the new
season.
