league leader Felix English gave a master-class of powerful racing tonight,
with four wins to boost his domination of the season-long competition. His two
main league rivals were missing (Adam Gent Impresses at Preston Park![]() In dry and sunny but cold conditions, the usual friendly and competitive racing took place in all categories with over fifty riders signing on. With regular judges Dave and Daniel Gerrey absent, their finish-line places were filled by Ben Miller and the under-the-weather but chirpy-as-ever Lee Povey more ..... a difference a week makes! After the disappointment of last week’s rained-off
meet, sixty-nine riders signed on at English is Preston Park's Scratch StarDouble league points were on offer tonight for the scratch championship events, and with several more races on the programme there was a lot at stake. When the racing started at 7 o’clock, there were clear blue skies, but things became cold later on when the sun set behind the stand. Thirty-six seniors and forty-one youths lined up at the start more ..... English and Owen on Form![]() The biggest anticipation of the day, for the 74 riders who signed on and their expectant families, was the two hours waiting in the rain for the organisers to, it seemed, inevitably cancel in the poor weather. However just before mid-day the track had dried enough to allow a tentative start in the pursuits. Reversing the programme meant the youngest riders would go first in the hope that the track would continue to dry out before the more powerful riders stormed around the track more ..... Mitchell on Form at Preston Park![]() A deluge of rain two-thirds of the way through another thrilling meet brought an immediate end to proceedings, but not before some brilliant racing had taken place. And, despite the clouds which had been threatening downpours all day, no fewer than 76 riders signed on (37 seniors and 39 youths) more .....
