Hill on Form as Revolution Returns
Brooks Cycles/Velodrome.org.uk rider Steve Hill was in outstanding form at last night's Revolution 17 when he came from nowhere
to beat Jamie Staff, Chris Lyte and Jose Escuredo of Spain to take the One Mile Dash in impressive style
Despite having a disappointing Sprint where he lost out to Jason Kenny and Itmar Esteban, Steve showed a lack of respect
for his opponent's experience and palmares as he shot up the outside in the home straight to win by half a bike length
Afterwards velodrome.org.uk caught up with Steve, who commented "That was fantastic, I gave it my all and timed my
sprint to perfection, after the sprint I was really disappointed but I think this makes up for it!"
Steve then went on to finish fourth in the Keirin, losing out to Lyte, Marco Librizzi and winner Dave Daniell
Kenny after beating Maclean
There was a surprise in the Sprint final as Jason Kenny beat PCA/Evan Cycles' latest signing Craig Maclean in a close battle that
saw the final lap completed in 10.7s
For the first time in two years Elite women were given a chance to ride the Revolution, and they did not let the organisers down, producing
some of the most exciting racing of the night
Competing in the Mile Dash, 8km Scratch, 1km Madison TT and 8km Points race the star of the evening had to be Lizzie Armitstead
who finished in the top three in all competitions, before taking victory in the final event, the 8km Points
Alex Greenfield, last year's Girls DHL Future Stars champion took the Scratch with Becky James giving Pinarello RT another
victory in the Mile Dash
Lizzie Armitstead very strong in the Women's Races
In the Men's Endurance events T-Mobile's Sprint superstar Mark Cavendish easily sprinted to victory in the 7km Motor-Paced Scratch which gave the
crowd a taste of six day racing
American Colby Pearce then gave the small Stateside team a much deserved victory in the 10km Points race, after Brooks Cycles/Velodrome.org.uk rider
Andrew Magnier relinquished his early lead
Magnus Backstedt delighted the crowd when he threw his Jersey to one of his many fans
The final 15km Scratch race saw Recycling.co.uk rider Chris Newton take the victory
after he took a lap with Dave O'Loughlin (Pezula Racing), Magnus Backstedt (Liquigas) and Mike Friedman (USA)
The DHL Future Stars yet again produced some exciting racing with Dan McLay (East Midlands) and Katie Fearnehough (Yorkshire) coming out on top in both competitions
Dan McLay of the East Midlands
Unlike last year when Andy Fenn and Alex Greenfield dominated the series this year looks like a much closer affair, with riders from the
strong West Midlands team challenging along with an impressive North West Division
'Fearny' taking another Victory
The British youngsters were joined by Kit Carzon of America who looked strong throughout the evening, regularly seen sitting on the front pulling breakaway riders back
to the bunch, before he took a well deserved victory in the 1 Mile Dash
