Fenn and Greenfield take titles

The fourth series of the Revolution came to an end last night with Revolution 16.

Another huge crowd were treated to some spectacular racing action from both the elite riders and the DHL future stars

Yet again Andy Fenn of the South East region dominated the night taking the 5km Scratch and Points race, with East Midlands rider Sam Freeman winning the Mile Dash

The victories were enough to see Fenn take the overall DHL Future Stars Boys title from Mark Christian and Tom Skubala

DHL Girls Podium
2006/07 DHL Future Stars Girls Podium, Left to Right, Helen Clayton (2nd), Guy Elliot (DHL CEO), Alex Greenfield (1st), Alice Monger Godfrey (3rd)

In the girl's events, Becky James took the Points Race and Ella Hopkins the Mile Dash, however it was Welsh rider Alex Greenfield, who like Fenn in the boy's competition, has dominated the girl's competition and consequently sealed the overall title, from Helen Clayton in second and Alice Monger-Godfrey in third

However neither of the Future Stars champions could help there teams to victory as the dominant West Midlands region featuring riders such as Helen Clayton, Jess Varnish, Jess Booth, Dane Percival, Tom Wieskowski and Dom Jelfs, proved too strong.

The night also saw the launch of the DHL Sprint School, see separate story

MacLean v Tournant
Craig MacLean on his way to beat Arnaud Tournant by 10 centimetres!!

The evening's sprint events produced some fantastic racing, and it was great to see World Class Mens and Womens events

Unsuprisingly it was Craig MacLean that once again showed he is getting closer and closer to World Champion Theo Bos, when he easily made it through to the final against veteran Arnaud Tournant, who he just managed to beat in a photo finish

The pair then teamed up to ride the Madison 1km TT, an event at which they were the current Revolution record holders with a time of 57.547s. A star studded line-up of Madison teams took the start and it didnt take long for the record to fall when Dutch sprinters Tim Veldt and Teun Mulder set a blistering time of 55.633s

However MacLean and Tournant managed to go even faster and to the delight of the crowd set a new record of 55.164s, simply amazing!

In the Women's sprint event former World Sprint Champion Victoria Pendleton was too strong for Christin Muche and Virginie Cueff, and claimed victory in the Omnium.

Anna and Vicki
Britain's best, Anna Blyth and Vicki Pendleton

A special mention must go to Anna Blyth who produced some outstanding sprinting that demonstrated she has made another step forward since the Moscow World Cup

The Revolution returns in October for the start of Series 5, and I for one can not wait!
