
Hoy Back in Style at Revolution 22Triple Olympic Champion Chris Hoy made his return to racing in style this weekend when he claimed victory in the
Sprint and Keirin at Revolution 22. Hoy dominated the Elite Sprint Events in what was his first event outing on the track since Beijing
Men's Elite Sprint Events Round One saw Edgar face Jamie Staff and Craig Maclean, and it was no surprise to see Ross easily progress to the Semi Finals with a comfortable win on the line. In the Second Heat Pete Mitchell and Jason Kenny lost out by some distance to Matt Crampton who again again showed why he is tipped for a fantastic 2009 Heat Three saw Italian Roberto Chiappa and Dutchman Teun Mulder take on Britain's Daniell, with the latter using his far superior Speed Endurance to effortlessly move into the Semi-Finals in impressive style It wasn't until Heat Four that the crowd got to see Olympic Sprint Champion Chris Hoy in action as he faced an off-form Chris Lyte and Itmar Esteban of Spain. It was fair to say that this was somewhat easy for Hoy as he didn't break a sweat in making the Semi-Finals In the first Semi-Final Dave Daniell faced Ross Edgar, with the latter leading it out with 200m to go all Daniell had to do was sit on and wait before moving round Edgar to make the Final. In the second Semi it was Hoy v Crampton, with both riders endurance sprint specialists we were in for a drag race, however the pair preferred to keep it tactical in the first two laps before Crampton launched off the front with one lap remaining. Hoy took a while to latch onto Crampton but when he easily overhauled his opponent to take his place in the final In the Final it was the Crown Prince Dave Daniell against the reigning King Chris Hoy, Daniell led things out in another tactical encounter that delighted the capacity crowd at Manchester Velodrome. Daniell launched his attack with one lap remaining before yes you guessed it Hoy moved past to just take the victory on the line At the end of the night the Sprinters took to the track again to do battle in the two Keirins. Ruby Miller Men's Elite Endurance Events Peter Kennaugh marked his return to the track with a fine performance in the Men's 6km Devil/Scratch race, taking an impressive victory from Luke Rowe and Andy TennantIn the 10km Points race Aussie Luke Roberts gave Chris Newton a taste of his own medicine as he dominated the points race to take in the final sprint from Olympic Team Pursuit Champion Geraint Thomas with Newton forced to settle for third in a race he traditionally dominants Crowd favourite Rob Hayles, who looked respendent in his GB National Road Race Champions jersey took the event closing 10km Scratch race after a fantastic 40 laps of racing. First to attack were Pinarello's Pete Williams and PCA's Jon Mozley with Williams leaving Mozley after a few laps off the front. At this point Steve Cummings (Barloworld) and Andrew Magnier shot off the front, effortlessly moving past Mozza. Magnier couldn't hold on to the awesome Cummings and drifted back to the bunch with Newton and Chris Whorral setting off after the Barloworld rider and Mozley going out the back. Event One winner Peter Kennaugh, Luke Rowe and Jon Mould attacked the bunch to make it six off the front but as the laps counted down the rest of the riders finally woke up to bring the field back together until the last lap when Hayles attacked to the victory 6km Devil/Scratch Race 1.
