Van der Togt Takes Perth Omnium

It was a cool night for Round 3 of our winter track season, our program planner Darryl Benson set a hard night for the A Graders with a 5 race Omnium, as A Grade was a bit light on for riders some of B Grade were moved upwards for the night, plus the Masters riders were incorporated into C Grade.

So we were in for a good nights racing and we were not disappointed, of course the Commissar was, as usual, Brian Taylor who kept his eagle eye on the night’s proceedings, he was capably assisted by Mick Russell, who had a lonely night looking after the back straight.

One of the biggest cheers of the night was for one of the Young Guns Lachie Mitchell winning his first race by a handsome margin.

The Omnium provided some excellent racing, Duane Johansen a victim of trying to get his young rival Jordan van der Togt eliminated in the ‘Devil’ but was eliminated himself which opened the way for Jordan to take the overall Ominium win, young Sarah Kent rode very well to finish 6th against the boys.

We wished two of our quick under nineteen’s, Sarah Kent and Luke Durbridge, all the best as they are off to South Africa to ride in the Under Nineteen World Titles.
