Gold for Hoy and Team Pursuit

Hoy
World Keirin Champion Chris Hoy

Chris Hoy showed why he is one of the greatest all time track sprinters when he hammered the opposition in the final of the Men's Keirin tonight in Palma, Mallorca

Hoy attacked as soon as the Motorbike left the track with just under three laps remaining, he was then passed by France's Mickael Bourgain, but cleverly sat in and waiting until the final bend to sprint past Bourgain to take the Gold medal

Defending World Champion Theo Bos and Britain's Ross Edgar then passed Bourgain to take the Silver and Bronze medals respectively

"I'm totally shocked and delighted," said Hoy. "It was way beyond my expectations because I'm a novice to this event and I used my strength to go hard at the finish."

Both Pendleton and Blyth then went on to beat their first round opponents, Australia's Kristine Bayley and Jennie Read (USA) respectively

In the 1/8 Finals Victoria and Anna were unfortunately paired together and yet again Vicki showed why she is a double World Champion by beating Blyth convincingly in 11.775s to progress through to the next round

Anna Blyth did well but couldn't make it into the Quarter Finals

Anna lost out in the Repechage to Christin Muche, with Lisandra Guerra of Cuba taking the other Repechage heat

Victoria then went on to meet Natalia Tyslinskaya of Belarus in the Quarter Finals, in what was a repeat of last year's final, however this time Vicki showed how much she has improved by easily beating the Belarussian 2-0

Hammer was only slightly quicker than Romero as she recorded a time of 3m 31.359s, however Rebecca's time smashed the national record set by Wendy Houvenaghel at the Manchester World Cup by a massive four seconds, the previous mark standing at 3m 35.294s

Wendy Houvenaghel

Meanwhile Britain's Houvenaghel was only able to qualify fourth fastest in a time of 3m 35.289s and therefore faces Katie Mactier in the Bronze medal ride off tonight

"The individual is one thing but I can't express how much of a team we've been over the last few months.
