Women's Team Sprint World Champion Victoria Pendleton recorded a time
of 11.194s to finish third in the Women's 200m TT Sprint Qualification
China's Shuang Guo was fastest setting a time of 11.149s with Simona Krupeckaite of Lithuania second with 11.191s
Britain's Anna Blyth finished tenth in 11.497s and showed she is continuing to improve
Both Pendleton and Blyth then went on to beat their first round opponents, Australia's Kristine Bayley and Jennie Read (USA) respectively
Blyth and Pendleton, Britain's Finest
In the 1/8 Finals Victoria and Anna were unfortunately paired together and yet again Vicki showed why she is a double World Champion by beating
Blyth convincingly in 11.775s to progress through to the next round
Anna lost out in the Repechage to Christin Muche, with Lisandra Guerra of Cuba taking the other Repechage heat
Victoria then went on to meet Natalia Tyslinskaya of Belarus in the Quarter Finals, in what was a repeat of last year's final, however this time Vicki showed how much she has improved by easily beating the Belarussian 2-0
Pendleton faced Lisandra Guerra in the Semi Final and easily overcame the Cuban in two straight heats, winning in
11.989s and 11.876s
In the ride off for Gold against Shuang Guo of China, Vicki easily outclassed Guo to regain her World Title from 2005 in emphatic style
The new 500m TT World Champion Anna Meares used her experience to take the Bronze medal from Guerra
A clash with the Women's Sprint competition meant that the Women's 500m TT was run at the same time as the Sprint Finals. This meant that Victoria Pendleton was unable to ride and therefore her place was handed to her teammate Shanaze Reade
Off second and in her first ever 500m TT, Shanaze set a fantastic time of 34.633s to top the standings until four riders to go when Simona Krupeckaite and then Lisandra Guerra pushed Reade down into Bronze
Simply the Best 500m TT Rider - Anna Meares
Next up was the World, Olympic and Commonwealth Champion Anna Meares of Australia who smashed her own world record by half a second, clocking a time of 33.588s
This was enough to give Meares the Gold medal with Natalia Tyslinskaya of Belarus narrowly missing out on Guerra's time to finish in the Bronze medal position. Shanaze Reade finished 5th with Anna Blyth in 8th having recorded a time of 34.870s which was just short of her personal best
After the final an emotional Anna Meares commented "It's simply amazing, like a dream come true and i'm lost for words"
France's Mickael Bourgain point the disappointment of losing last night's Keirin final behind him when he qualified fastest in the Men's Sprint 200m TT Qualification
Maclean knocks out Tournant
Bourgain recorded a stunning time of 9.968s to relegate defending champion Theo Bos of the Netherlands, who recorded a 10.045s, to second
Last year's silver medallist, Britain's Craig Maclean was third fastest recording a time of 10.110s, with his teammate Ross Edgar in sixth with 10.191s
Unfortunately Edgar met Britain's third rider Matt Crampton in the first round and easily knocked him out, with Maclean, Bos and Bourgain also progressing through with ease
It's Ross Edgar v Craig Maclean in the Quarters
The second round saw some fantastic battles, with Craig Maclean beating France's multiple World Champion Arnaud Tournant in 10.726s. Meanwhile Bourgain overcame Australia's Mark French and Bos beat French's teammate Ryan Bayley
In the Quarter Finals Maclean was drawn against Edgar, and in a repeat of the Sydney World Cup final Ross took the first race only to be beaten in the second and third races
Ross was unable to make an impact in the Minor Final due to the fantastic team work of German's Max Levy and Stefan Nimke, which saw Levy finish 5th overall
Craig now progresses through to tomorrow's Semi Finals where he shall meet Gregory Bauge, whereas the other Semi see's defending champion Theo Bos face Mickael Bourgain
O'Loughlin through to the Points Final, whereas Newton didnt qualify
There was a suprise in the Men's Point Race Qualification when former World Champion Chris Newton (Great Britain) failed to qualify for the final
However Ireland's David O'Loughlin made it through and battled strongly with Belgium's Ilijo Keisse, but it was Spain's Joan Illaneras who stole the show with a dominant performance that saw him take his fourth World Points Title
It was an emotional victory for Llaneras who in 2006 won the World Madison Championships with Isaac Galvez, who lost his life during last winter's Ghent Six Day event
The home favourite dominated the race, lapping the field three times, once
riding on his own.
The 37-year-old racked up 76 points, ahead of Belgium's Iljo Keisse, who took
silver on 55 points, and Mikhail Ignatiev of Russia who was third on 52 points.
"This is the biggest thing I've won in my life, there's no doubt about that,"
said Llaneras.
"I enjoyed myself, the fans enjoyed themselves and I knew I was strong and
decided to go for it around the halfway point in the race."
World Scratch Race Champion Yumari Gonzalez Valdivieso
World Cup winner Yumari Gonzalez Valdivieso took a convincing win in the Women's Scratch race, the Cuban easily beat Maria Calle Williams of Columbia who took the Silver and Adrie Visser of the Netherlands who clinched the Bronze. Britain's Katie Curtis finished 8th
The World
Championships take place in Palma de Mallorca from 29 March to 1 April.
