100%ME rider Jonny Bellis will make his debut at the World Championships this weekend and will aim to make a name for
himself in an exciting new event
The Omnium has been added to this year's Worlds, being staged at the new Palma Arena in Mallorca. It
consists of five events that should test the riders' all-round ability
Jonny will have to ride a 200m TT, a 3km Pursuit, the Kilometre TT aswell as taking part in a 5km Scratch and 15km Points Race
As with any Omnium the winner of each discipline will receive one point and the lower you finish the more points you will accrue, meaning the overall winner
will be the rider with the least number of points.
Bellis, who was part of the 100%ME Team Pursuit squad that clinched an impressive Bronze medal at the recent Manchester World Cup,
is tipped to follow in the footsteps of his countryman Mark Cavendish
Like Cavendish, Bellis hails from the Isle of Man and was primarily a road rider until he secured the silver Medal in the Points race
at last year's Junior Worlds
Since then Jonny has shot to prominence with the aforementioned Bronze at the Manchester World Cup and a
fantastic fourth place at the Madison during the same meeting with fellow 100%ME rider
Ben Swift.
The World
Championships take place in Palma de Mallorca from 29 March to 1 April.
