Getting ready to take on the World

With two weeks remaining until the 2007 Track World Championships, the British team has been announced

GB will take 17 riders to Palma, Mallorca 8 of which are Sprint riders, the remaining nine will ride the endurance events

For the first time Britain shall have more than one Sprint rider in the women's team, with Junior Keirin World Champion Anna Blyth and Junior BMX World Champion Shanaze Reade making their senior World Championship debuts

Noticeable absentees are Jason Queally and Mark Cavendish, both past World Champions

Veteran Queally is still suffering from the Chicken-Pox that kept him out of the Manchester World Cup, whereas Cavendish is concentrating on the road season with his new team, T-Mobile

Also making their debuts are young endurance bunch-race specialist Katie Curtis and rower turned pursuiter Rebecca Romero. Amongst the men, up and coming endurance rider Jonny Bellis is the only new name.

Endurance Riders

Katie Curtis, Wendy Houvenaghel, Rebecca Romero, Jonny Bellis, Ed Clancy, Rob Hayles, Paul Manning, Chris Newton, Geraint Thomas, Bradley Wiggins

The World Championships take place in Palma de Mallorca from 29 March to 1 April.
